On behalf of my sister, Rita, and my brother-in-law, Kenny, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to each and every one of you for your love and support at this time.
My jaw has been on the floor the last few days. I'm actually not sure if it will ever return to my face. The generosity of people locally, around the nation, and even across the world has been overwhelming. "I" am the skeptic in our family, but all of you have restored my faith in humanity. Our priest at church back home in Arkansas ALWAYS begins Mass with the following words...
"God is good."
The congregation responds..."All the time", and then the message is reversed. If I'm being honest, the repetitiveness of it has always kind of annoyed me, but I have found myself repeating it over and over for the last several days as well. Despite the circumstances, God is SO good!
It will never annoy me again.
I know that in times like this people often feel at a loss because they don't know what to say or do. Sometimes, it is the simplest of gestures that carry people through. The food that has been both brought by and sent has been a Godsend. The offers of rides for Emily's siblings has allowed us to concentrate on on taking care of other logistical matters. And the funds donated for rooms next to Mass General so that our family can be within walking distance to Emily...there are simply no words to express our gratitude.
While we are greatly appreciative of all the things listed above, it is your prayers that have been MOST important to us. We feel every. single. one. of them and know that Emily does too. Please keep praying.
